The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, pointed out in “A Minute with Gebran,” entitled “The Great Patriarch,” that “Great Lebanon was born more than a hundred years ago, and we are entrusted to preserve it for many years or lose it forever, but Lebanon will not disappear.” He added: "There is a man who took up the cause and did not seek glory for himself, but he is the one who deserves to be said about: 'The glory of Lebanon was given to him.'" He continued: "History has recognized his greatness and the Church has recognized his beatitude, and we will all be there in Diman on the twenty-fifth of July for the celebration announcing the beatification of Patriarch Howayek." Bassil pointed out that “Al-Howayek is a blessed man on the path of holiness,” and that “Elias Al-Howayek carried his faith in his heart, and carried Lebanon with his conscience. He believed that he deserved to be a free and independent homeland,” and added: “That is why his beatification does not concern the Church alone, nor does it concern the Maronites alone. It has become part of Lebanon's memory, its identity, and its message on which the Synod for Lebanon was based, to say that Lebanon, 10,425 km2, is the homeland of freedom, diversity, and peace, and that our choice is openness and the rejection of isolation. He continued: “For us, the people of Batroun, this occasion has a special meaning. From Halta, Patriarch Howayek set out with his message, and today from Batroun, we renew our loyalty to his legacy. In this sense, Batrouniyat is celebrating an artistic celebration entitled “The Great,” and we called it that not only because Patriarch Howayek is great, but because he was behind the idea of ​​“Greater Lebanon.”  He concluded by saying: “Thursday, the twenty-third of July, we will meet together to recall the biography of a man who combined the holiness of faith and the heroism of founding the entity. We in this East are destined to carry our cross every day... to remain, and today we carry the Al-Howayek march “so that Lebanon remains... great.”
